Tribute.
Jay Kennedy was an editor at King Features Syndicate. Tragically, he drowned last week while on vacation in Costa Rica. He was a fixture at AAEC conventions. And though he and I never worked together (I have been with several syndicates over the years, but King was not one of them) Jay and I would always find the time to talk. We had a special connection, in that we both attended the School of Visual Arts in NYC. We used to talk about pretty much anything BUT cartooning. I didn’t know him as well as fellow cartoonist, Jim Borgman, who has written this really touching remembrance of Jay on his always very well-written blog. It’s still very hard to believe I’m writing about Jay in the past tense – There’s a whole lot of people in the world of cartooning who will miss him. What a sad and tragic loss.
