    I guess it was… harder to draw someone getting a bullet to the back of the head or a lethal injection.

    Well, China needed a scapegoat. I wouldn't put it past the Chinese to have staged a witch hunt for contaminated American foodstuffs. (So they could go "see, Americans are guilty of product adulteration, too!") Gotta save face!
