I thought Gov. Eliot Spitzer's outrageously bold plan to allow undocumented aliens (AKA: "people") to obtain driver's licenses was constitutionally correct, albeit politically impossible. So after consulting with Michael Chertoff over at "Homeland Security" (what an inane name for a department), Spitzer ditched his plan and agreed to a three-tiered State licensing system. I googled staphylococcus and it was just a bunch of dots under a microscope with a red background, so I drew what I now realize was a "Far Side" inspired bug/amoeba looking thing. Or a hairy potato. Such is the challenge of daily editorial cartooning. Here's a local one with a cameo by Westchester's County executive, Andy Spano – Who I know hates when I draw cartoons about him, because he told me so. Go figure.

The actual details of the issue are fairly complicated, but I hope that the cartoon is clear enough that perhaps even a non-local reader might get the point I'm making…
