Again I ask if we build these bridges how many should we let
in? a Billion? Where's the cut off point? We can't possibly
absorb the numbers you are talking about. Even if we legalized all the illegals it would still be a problem. There is 2 sides to the coin. We are not getting many doctors or scientists here we are getting third world uneducated and unskilled people who would still be a burden
to our social service system. Since they come here to work
you would have to agree then no more social services. Pull your weight like I have to. If all the illegals went home
today the economy would not collapse. This was proven during
"a day without an immigrant" protest when nothing happened.
Even if the economy did suffer it wouldn't be long before it
rebounded.

Illegal immigrants are not here to be criminals like you seem to think. They are here to better themselves in the world's greatest country. The fact that many are here illegally says more about the red tape of the U.S. than the immigrant. We need to build more bridges, not walls, because immigrants are the lifeblood of this nation. If we make it easier for those who want to work to get in this country, then we would have more people paying taxes, more people helping to pay for their health insurance, more people taking care of themselves, more people participating in the system instead of out of the system. Less illegals.

But all of this is not the problem you think it is. It's just the latest hype and spin from the Limbaughs, Hannitys, Dobbs, O'Reillys, etc. that live to pour inane hateful prattle into the heads of their loyal empty-headed followers. It's more in the vein of gay marriage. Not a problem. But I'll tell you what would be a problem: rounding up millions of illegal immigrants and sending them back home. This economy would collapse. But I don't think you can see that because you are a black-and-white thinker, the same kind of thinking that thought invading Iraq was a slam-dunk. You are missing the nuance in this issue and you always will.

Do both of you really think we should give licenses to
someone who should not be here? I just don't see rewarding
anyone who's first act on American soil is to break the law.

Actually Disasterman most newspapers are left wing liberal
and are in favor of illegal immigration and do not print
all the crimes that are being done by illegal immigrants.
They print only a handful. Imagine if they printed all of them? Remember we are talking about ILLEGAL aliens here. Just like Mcgriff I'd like to know what you think our saturation point is with immigration. I think there are to
many people now.Should we continue until we have a billion
people? more people more problems. I know there are benefits
with immigration, all i'm asking is have it done in an organized and manageable fashion. Not like it is now. We don't even know who 20 million people are here.Lastly Everybody wants fairness. I do also. All i ask is that everybody do it the way I have to. I don't make alot of money
but pay for many benefits people get that I don't. Just do it the way I have to. No social services,Pay taxes and pay full price for everything. Now that's fair. If you diagree I just don't see it. Anyway as I told Mcgriff the beers are on me and i'd be very interested in more of your comments
and you can throw all the sarcasim at me you wan't. I'm not
as narrow minded as you might think.

Agreed Richard. The DMV should not have your SS# - for the purpose stated only child welfare should have it.

Come on Mcgriff, my questions are very logical since many of
these people are breaking the law,not paying taxes and getting away with it. You just don't have an answer. I don't
share any traits with our president at all but you actually
do. Bush is for amnesty for these Illegals of which you are
also and I am not. You have more in common with this bum
than I do. Don't worry my good man just vote for Hillary.
If she gets in you won't need any bridges to allow these people to come the borders will be wide open. 7.5 million
people just signed up around the world for the annual immigration lottery. Only 50,000 are excepted. When the
borders open up it will be a tidal wave of third world uneducated people that you and I will have to take care of.
Just remember over population ruins everything that is why half the world wants to come here because their countries
have so many people any opportunity is gone. The rest of
this can be discussed over an ice cold beer. I'm buying.
I'm willing to let you open my narrow mind.

Hi Bulldog,

Just read the paper? Oh yeah, that's right, cos for every sensationalist crime report, newspapers print thousands of stories saying "Today, an illegal immigrant went to work, earned a pittance of a days wages and continued to quietly support the economy of the United States by spending those wages on American goods and services (on which taxes are paid) while sending home money that enables his/her dependants to raise themselves out of grinding poverty."!

Sorry to resort to sarcasm (ok, let's be honest, not really, I love sarcasm!) but you can't rely on newspapers and news stories to give an accurate picture of the world - it's a snapshot, and, to extend the metaphor, the camera DOES lie - the image you see may be true in and of itself, but it tells you nothing of what happens outside the frame, or before or after the snapshot was taken, and that doesn't even take into account whether the shot has been photoshopped! And it tells you nothing of why the cameraman chose to take that photograph, rather than looking across the street for a different image.

Why would governments and NGO's spend millions of dollars and man hours on in-depth studies if all they needed to do was read the papers?

Now, this whole view of 'just look at the papers' is often used as justification for one point of view or another, and I find it frustrating (this isn't in direct response to Bulldog btw) that public opinion is formed and manipulated through the media for the agenda of certain, generally powerful interests, who then cry foul when the public, or sections of the media fail to report things as they would like - "But you aren't telling any of the GOOD news coming out of Iraq!" is just one example (and admittedly partisan, I'm not claiming this is just one way traffic).

I truly sympathise with your situation Bulldog, but I also believe you are being manipulated to point the finger of blame in the wrong place.
It is an acknowledged, documented practice to distract the public by demonising another section of the populace in order to obfuscate the REAL problems, and has been used by many regimes, time and time again in the history of civilisation - ever hear of that gang of good time guys, the Nazis?
I do not deny that immigration (both legal and illegal - look at the massive influx of new Europeans into the UK labour market) brings with it challenges and very real problems, but we should not be blind to the benefits, or neutral effects, that come with it.

Hey Bull,

I think you are missing my point about your black-and-white thinking. I can't answer your questions. It's futile. You are lost in your little narrow universe of black-and-white. I can't change your mind or make you see. You are physically incapable. And I don't mean to be smug or hurtful. You are who you are and, in fact, you share many of the same traits with the current leader of the free world. I guess what I'm saying is that you could easily be president of the Unites States of America one day. So, as you can see, my calling you narrow-minded is quite the compliment.

The whole reason why we were first asked to supply Social Security numbers to the DMV was to crackdown on "deadbeat dads," which I think is the stupidest reason ever.

I support a "no ssn" requirement for a driver license because of this, alone. Why the heck should the DMV have my SSN?
