State of the Union

I usually work past the obvious cliches in my sketchbook…But for some reason, this idea forced me to put principle aside and throw out the hackneyed “lost in a maze” cartoon. I think it was the dialogue that added enough of a twist to clear my conscience, which in turn allowed me to go ahead and ink it. It might also have been the fact it was 5:15 PM (and it made me chuckle…)

Hi Matt,
I like the maze! Did you do it all freehand?
Also, I like how you have Uncle Sam following George around like a lost dog… this seems oddly appropriate.
Is there any end to this maze in sight?
You're right, the dialogue pulled it all together; I'm not sure I'm clever enough to have mentally added "rounded the corner" all on my own.
In fact, you're definitely cleverer than I am. I need help w/the nuances of language.
Am I alone in this?
