Dual Duels
If there was a scenario where the Democrats – fielding two monstrously popular candidates who have been raising cash hand over fist (the universal signal of political virility) – could mess what looked to be an easy general election up, this would be it.
Obama and Hillary drag out the primary, tear each other to shreds, while McCain, already into the General election, sips iced tea and watches the democratic candidates (and their supporters) do all his work and save him a ton of money. He has gone from being a total political dwarf to being a very lucky political dwarf.
Enough dime store political mumbo-jumbo. I have a confession to make…Over the past week I’ve been nursing a nasty cold, and my cartoons have felt frankly sub-par. I know some of you will ask what my excuse was for the cartoons I did prior to sickness, and for that I have a dazzling list of excuses, distractions and filibusters. So don’t even try.

On the contrary, Clinton and Obama are both very good and are forcing Democrats to make a very tough choice. Make no mistake, though—we Dems are chomping at the bit to get rid of this [expletive deleted] and are ecstatic to have not one, but two awesome candidates who will win in November, whichever one prevails at the convention. One could also argue that the closeness of the vote is an indication that voters are saying they want both of them. I support that. I said to noone in particular fourteen months ago that a Clinton-Obama ticket could potentially put the executive branch in Democratic hands until 2024.
Yeah, But. Hillary and Obama tearing into one another will help McCain. A king Solomon approach should be implemented here. O and H should be presented with a choice: One of them should step aside gracefully, for the good of the country. The one that volunteers to step aside should then be awarded the nomination.
