Awesome, Matt! Love it when you give a peek behind your wizard's curtain like this.

1337 is an internet term for one who is highly skilled in a particular subject. It's a corruption of the term "elite" and arose out of hacker talk of n00bs and script kiddies (those who can't do much other than be annoying) and the 1337 (the "leet" who can cause some serious damage). That I am trying to become a 1337 scientist means I want to become a really good scientist, like the kind that they let shoot lasers and electrons at cells.
I am hoping to also use what skill I may have in cartooning to demystify biology for lay-people. Unfortunately, every time I try to draw a T cell (they really look like globs, but a cartoon needs more character than that), it comes out looking somewhat ominous and creepy.
Thanks for taking the time to reply to my questions. I really appreciate your advice.

Huh. Well I'd never have figure that one out without your help. Thanks.
And there a was I thinking it was a reference to some arcane natural theorem posited in the year 1337.

1337 = "LEET" (think of the 1 as an L, and flip the 3's backwards, and half a capital T) = elite
