It is purely for the amusement of whomever wishes to "vote." Sometimes (I have discovered) a particularly cunning and resourceful right-winger will spend his entire afternoon (on a workday no less) refreshing the page, and repeatedly voting one star(!) which can craftily dilute the votes of the people who liked the cartoon and make it appear the cartoon got a really low vote(!) OUCH! When that happens, that crafty and resourceful right-winger really teaches me a lesson. Bugger:

During last night's flight (form 9:20 PM New York time to 6 AM) after dinner the flight attendants disappeared (they now have their own sleeping compartments, with much more comfortable seats than those reserved to the herd), to reappear with breakfast at 5 AM. I guess the flight attendants got to this with their union power. Where is the passenger-power? You think this is a joke?
