Why does the media continue to shine microscopic scrutiny on Hillary while breezing by the failings and weaknesses of Obama? I just don’t understand. I thought the media existed to expose and enlighten? I thought you were the first to point out the Trojan Horse. What happened?
Hey Talitha,
I don’t have a favorite in this campaign. If you go back through my work you’ll see I have done cartoons that are critical of Obama and his failings too.
But right now, Hillary’s attempt to count Florida and Michigan (two states that all the democratic candidates agreed to stay out of because of a silly DNC hissy fit over Primary pecking order) is the epitome of a Trojan Horse. Obama honored the boycott and didn’t campaign in Florida (Hillary did) and his name wasn’t even on the ballot in Michigan (Hillary’s was.) By trying to count them as legit elections, Her campaign has taken on the unfortunate spirit of the Bush camp in the 2000 recount debacle.
But don’t worry. Once Obama is the nominee, the media – in an attempt to look “balanced” – will start to gloss over McCain’s considerable failings and hammer away at Obama instead.
Matt,
Don’t know whether you take notice, but the NY Times featured one of your cartoons “John McCain Gets Tough On Washington Lobbyists” in this past Sunday’s Week in Review section.
It’s always good to see your work recognized outside the Journal News.
I don’t know about that Deb S,
Encouraging children is a dangerous game
Surely encouraging children is one of the more noble pursuits.
I reviewed a ton of your cartoons. I am sorry. I love you and I love your work but I don’t see the microscope on Obama – actually, not even a pair of drugstore reading glasses. Instead, your one cartoon on the media’s cheerleading attitude toward Obama is that last light I could find on the subject.
I just don’t understand the adulation of Obama by anyone – let alone the media. I don’t see Obama’s charisma. Obama has not displayed any evidence of Churchhillian strategy or brilliance. He has no impressive track record to rest his laurels on. He shows no respect for this country’s accomplishments. All I hear are hollow sound bytes. If Obama is as brilliant as everyone claims, his supporters should not be worried about his weathering his fair share of scrutiny.
The media appear to have wholly abandoned their role of the objective reporter. Perez Hilton has more credibility at this point – at least he reports the dirt on EVERYONE!
Sorry to be so hard on you…but you are the only guy I know who 1) will read my email and 2) works for the press.

Hmm… overpopulated planet with a food crisis? Encouraging children could be seen as a bad idea!
But seriously, I agree that Hilary’s behaviour at the moment is the bigger satrical target – while there are Obama related stories about, they are just that – related, rather than directly about him. To my mind the biggest Dem story right now is the dragged out contest, which really is about HIllary, and her tenacity is shining a light on areas of her campaigning, and therefore integrity and political personality, which you might not see otherwise. My perspective is of course skewed by my being in the UK, but I get US news emailed headlines everyday and watch the US broadcasts on the UK news channels, so I try to keep up to date.
And hello Talitha – all the best for you nuptuals, from yr pondside cousin (David)!
Matt,
I’m sorry my comment is so late, but I just ran into this thread. It’s my understanding that Barack Obama campained in Florida against the agreement he signed, not Hillary. In addition it was Barack Obama’s choice to remove his name so that he could argue that his name wasn’t on the ballot.
Regards,
Grace
