    Technically a recession is 2 consecutive quarters of negative growth right”? AFAIK, that hasn’t happened.

    Yes. You are correct, sir. But you have to admit that’s old school 20th Century economics. Sort of like the official “there’s-no-inflation” #s. Where on earth do they get that crap? Energy prices alone are going to shred most American’s pocketbooks. Every single thing at the grocery store now has a built-in energy surcharge and you should check out airfares. Try booking a plane ticket to the destination of your choice. You’ll pay double what you’re used to. It’s also very sobering to look at projections for home heating oil prices for the winter.

    IMHO Recession will seem like a polite term in a year or so.

    Also, Gramm was the one who used the term recession. Or as they say: “He started it.”
