Bulldog,

You're right, I don't know you. But I know a lot of people just like you. They've never voted for a Democrat for president in their life. They've been brainwashed by the last 28 years of GOP propaganda about the Democrats. But now they are finally seeing just how incompetent Republican polices are, so they can't support the GOP any longer. So what do they do? They call themselves independents and say that both parties suck. It's an easy way out.

But these people should look more closely at what has actually happened. Since 1929, seven of the top nine job-creating administrations have been Democratic. The bottom five are all Republicans.

Since 1974, the deficit has mostly risen during Republican terms and decreased during Democratic, and yes, this includes Carter.

Since 1960, the number of people below the poverty level has decreased during Democratic terms and risen during Republican.

In general, this nation functions more effectively for all of us under Democratic leadership.

But you are a smart guy. I'm sure this is stuff you would have looked up before election day so that your vote in November will be the one that is best for this country.

You have a good holiday weekend too.

McGriff, I've never had a loyalty to any party so i'm not
running from anything. You don't even know me so how can you
make a comment like that? as far as "last i remember" the
statement stands. You haven't given me any statistics to
prove that my memory has failed me just the typical left wing liberal spew. Enjoy your holiday weekend my good man.

You need to read your history a little more carefully, Bulldog. Don't rely on "last I remember." And isn't it interesting that so many Republicans now call themselves Independents. Running from something? At least it's a step in the right direction.

McGriff, First of all i'm an independent. I hate our 2 party
system. What does your statement have to do with what i'm saying? I don't like Dem's or Repubs. They both suck. Enough
with how the Dem's are great and the Repub's are bad. Last
i remember the economy stunk under jimmy Carter and was
pretty good under Ronald Reagan. Maybe that's why carter got
one term and Reagan got 2. The economy can be good or bad
under each party. Your left wing view point on this is typical of one party loyalty correct? The Dem's can do no
wrong and the Repub's are the devil? How ridiculous!!!

Bulldog,

I'm curious how you and your living-in-a-vacuum-world-of-theory friends explain how the country goes to hell economically under Republican leadership and thrives under Democratic leadership? Doesn't reality or facts mean anything to you, or are you so lost in the I Hate Democrats propaganda that you are blind?

Your heart and mind are in the right place Toaster and in
a perfect world what you are saying would be a great thing.
However, it all boils down to economics. Who will pay for
this modest life style of ALL Americans? It will be the people who have more wealth through knowledge, harder work or just plain old fashion connections. That's not exactly
fair either. At least this country has a middle class, many countries do not. In this country you will always have your rich, your poor and eveyone else in between.Capitalism does work. Just look at this country compared to the rest of the world and you will see i'm right. I make only a modest living myself and have struggled to maintain that living
but i still wouldn't change the system we have in place now.

Richard, I'm with you buddy. Get rid of Wagner and Heilman
and put McCain on the mound. It can't hurt after last nights
8 to 7 loss to the phillies.

Bulldog,

I understand what you are saying about how hard work should be rewarded with greater possessions, be they material, societal, or spiritual. However, I believe that we are differing in our opinions on where it is equitable for everyone to start from. In America, we give everyone the right to speak, vote, worship, and, more or less, work as they please. These are some of the reasons that my parents came. However, I find it to be most morally correct to ensure that every citizen of America has the exact same assurances of minimal living conditions. To my wit, these include dry housing that is warm in the winter, enough food to not be hungry (this excludes empty junk foods), adequate preventative health care, ample contraceptive services and education, and access to competitive and cutting-edge education. I find that this combination of materials is necessary for the population as a whole to be truly free and democratic. These starting conditions do not preclude the possibility of one improving their material lot by hard work and excellence in their field. They merely ensure that at least no American citizen will starve unnecessarily, freeze to death, die early from wholly preventative causes, be unwanted by their parents, or slowly die mentally for not having been educated. That's all. I'm not trying to take away what you've earned, just make sure that everyone at least has the minimum to be free.
