I was looking forward to the McCain campaign.
I genuinely thought I would be drawing cartoons about the substantive back and fore between he and Obama, two worthy adversaries.
Senator McCain could even have won this election, but Candidate McCain is a lost cause. I know so many people who thought they were going to vote for him, based on his powerful senate persona and pragmatic, (mostly) non-ideological principles. His caricature of a Presidential campaign has frittered all that precious political capital. The Republican diaspora – who couldn’t stand Senator McCain going into this election season – instead of learning to like him, demanded that he morph into an anti-intellectual right-wing character assassin. His pick of the unprincipled Governor Palin iced the cake.
He could have been a contender.

Funny cartoon…Wise words.
Not so fast Matt. It’s not over until the fat lady sings.
Oprah’s gonna sing????
No Mike, I think they’ll bring Roseanne back in for this one.
I agree with Matt—what the heck happened to the Senator McCain that I knew from (as recently as) 2 years ago?

That’s cute. A lecture on the wrongs of character assassination from the people who turned Hillary and Bill into klansmen. A wish for substance from those who pitched a policy of Hope. And arguments about Judgment and a New kind of politics from a guy who’s 20 year relationship with the Rev. Wright either shows a total lack judgment or cynical political maneuvering.
Sh*t. Matt IS Obama – how could I not have realised? Have you ever seen the two of them in the same room?
