Torture is wrong in all its forms. And if losing everything you’ve worked toward because you fell sick and can’t afford decent health insurance isn’t government sanctioned torture, I’m not sure what is.
On a technical note…There should be a question mark after the “don’t we.” But “don’t we?” just ruined the punchline, so I elected to expunge the offending punctuationary weirdness before going to press. So all you disgruntled English teachers out there standing ready to correct me…Back off. Okay? I know what I did. And I also know there’s no such word as “punctuationary.” Damn English teachers.

I’ve got nothing against your punctuationary misbehaviourisms – in such a situation it makes the apparent question an implicit statement, not so much an invitation for response as a direct order to agree – I’m sure we’ve all heard, or said ourselves, a statement phrased as a question thus, and usually from someone with more power than sense.
Exactly! Spoken like a true scholar and gentleman.
I can abide the liberties you took with the laws of punctuation, but you seem to have also defied the laws of gravity here—- the prisoners (foreign and domestic) are suspended from handcuffs that are below them. How did you do that? (I suspect magic is at play—and I love magic!)
As for your observation; “And if losing everything you’ve worked toward because you fell sick and can’t afford decent health insurance isn’t government sanctioned torture, I’m not sure what is.” Apparently you haven’t yet filed your tax returns…now that’s torture.
@Topgunner: There are shackles around the ankles…Just didn’t have room, y’know? And I filed my tax returns a while ago…But I farm out that nasty torture to my accountant.
Save this cartoon. When we have government rationed health care it will be a lot more accurate. You can merely change “No health Care” on the T-shirt to “Government run health care”. Of course, be sure to make the person hanging upside down either elderly or disabled, because their care will be rationed away much faster than “productive” members of society as deemed by some faceless Washington beauracrat.
