Cold Water

I think it’s wonderful that Dick Cheney refuses to go away. The degree of fun I had drawing this should be against the law.

Great drawing Matt. Now you should draw one for tomorrow
showing that same law book shoved into Obama’s face concerning illegal immigration knowing that he wants to give amnesty to 20 million law breakers. Funny how most of
our low life politicians have a problem obeying the laws that they make yet they expect the rest of us citizens to
tow the line.
Bulldog, wouldn’t it be more appropriate to have the law book shoved into Ronald Reagan’s face over illegal immigration? Reagan actually did sign an amnesty bill.
I agree Mcgriff. If Reagan were alive today i would be the first one in line to do it. That was a huge mistake because
it only brought more illegal aliens to this country. Also, we were promised by our dirt bag government that another
amnesty would not be granted. I was hoping that Obama would
do the people’s will on this issue but neither he nor McCain even debated it. Obama is now in charge and has a chance to do what Ronald Reagan did not do and that is under no condition should he grant another amnesty. If he does he’ll only be making the same mistake 2 Republicans
wanted(Reagan and Bush)which was amnesty. Let’s see if this issue turns out to be “change we need now” or the same Republican garbage!!!!
NY Congressman Peter King:
“If we have another 2,000 people killed, I want Nancy Pelosi and [liberal philanthropist] George Soros, John Conyers and Pat Leahy to go to the funeral and say, ‘Your son was vaporized because we didn’t want to dump some guy’s head under water for 30 seconds.’”
Good to know Matt would rather LA have suffered another 9-11 type attack than Khalid Sheik Mohammed suffer some discomfort. Because, you know, the waterboarding stopped that from happening, even though you will never read it in the JN.
It will be alot more thn 2,000 this time. Make no mistake about it.
The cartoon hits the point!
To read some comments is a bit tormenting though… :[
We first need to determine if torture is an effective method of obtaining valid, useful information. We’re not dealing with morons here. These guys are intelligent, as well as sly, and I’m sure as soon as one of them gets captured, a contingency plan is put into effect that renders useless, as much as possible, any information the captive might give up.
They are also quite adept at keeping the main players isolated from each other, and using simple communication methods that are difficult to monitor (human couriers, 5th party coded e-mails, secret meetings, etc.) to keep the operation going.
Taking away a person’s freedom is one of the worst things you can do, and I think a cold/hot, dark cell, minimal existence, and the promise that you’ll never again breath fresh air, see the sky, or feel the embrace of your family (which is why they like to recruit single loners) if you don’t cooperate, will go a long way.
For the single loners, pain and misery MAY be the only alternative.
However, in the end, whatever method best protects our nation is what we should use.
Getting the Palestinian/Israeli situation worked out would be a MAJOR step toward calming the Arab world, and a simple turn of the oil spigot can quickly bring this nation to it’s knees.
Anyone remember 1974?
Torture does not produce reliable information. Experts say that a person in pain will say whatever you want them to say to make the pain stop. John McCain, a victim of torture during the Vietnam War, says torture does not work.
But even if torture works – and I’m sure that some person being tortured has revealed a truth here and there – it is not something that America should do. It is against the law – our law and international law. It is also immoral. If America adds torture as one of its weapons, then the war is lost. We will have lowered ourselves to the level of the terrorists and we will have become what we are fighting against.
I would argue that the Bush administration has done just that. You’re welcome America, indeed.
Dick Cheney never voted against the Born Alive protection Act as our current President did as a member of the Illinois state senate. That act was signed into law, no thanks to Obama, to make sure that infants born alive after botched abortion attempts were not left to die in supply closets with no medical care, as what happened to a Down Syndrom baby born alive after a botched abortion attempt in Chicago. Obama could not get past his strident pro-abortion views even a little to find the compassion to vote for protections for those innocents. Yet he can take the moral highground on the “torture” of people whose aim is to kill millions of innocents? What a hypocritical joke! I never remember Bush going on the Tonight Show either and making fun of those he allegedly had “tortured”, but Obama sure had no problem going on the Tonight Show and making fun of Special Olympic athletes, whom he voted to “torture” with his cruel stance against ensuring their protection.
