Pursuant to my previous blog entry…
The media gives its audience what it wants, so I suppose we really should be looking at the man in the mirror here. Oof. Sorry. That’s enough of that. Rest in peace, Mr. Jackson.

Matt old friend do you always say rest in peace to child rapist?
Marinadog,
You’re missing a word in your reply, “suspected” child rapist. When I first heard the allegations about MJ, I was ready for decent people to pounce on him. But then, there were those conflicting stories told by his accusers. There were those plausible statements that his accusers were out for the $ they believed he had.
I spent all of Sunday PM watching a retrospective of his music videos. I listened closely to the words of “Beat it”. His video was a plea for peace. I saw & remembered the video of “We are the world”. Once again, it broke my heart w/its message.
I believe he had a deeply troubled soul. I also believe in God. I believe only God can judge him now. And I’m praying for the peace MJ so fervently believed in.
God rest his soul.
we have 6 dead in 5 days. not counting the hundreds on the french flight.
Matt,
What catches my attention about the reporting of MJ’s death is the coverage of the coverage. Not only did the media abandon vital issues of the day, they went w/mostly outdated “reporting” of a recluse’s life.
Has anyone else noticed how much the various media’s minute-by-minute reporting was not original to them? In other words, the media covered the media reporting details of MJ’s life, death & career. TV news showed the cover pages of years-old tabloids. Supposedly news-breaking commentary was a simple rebroadcating of file footage, e.g. MJ doing nothing in particular; still pictures of his kids’ mom, etc.
Only VH1 & MTV showed the legit years-old stuff. They stuck to his music – the real story in my opinion. MJ was a performer 1st. After that, he was a strange-looking man & an even eerier father. His bizzare private choices hold no interest for me. What we lost w/his death is MJ the artist.
Isn’t the big story that we lost MJ, the singer & dancer?
um we lost many others besides MJ.
in the last month we lost close to a dozen artists/entertainers
