    great one!

You pen this cartoon as if Congress has not already substantially dipped their hand into the health insurance markets with regulations and pre-condition coverage requirements that have hamstrung the health insurance market.

I don’t know why the idea of some obscure health board deciding your medical fate is more appealing than an insurance company that you choose deciding it. Both are not great, but only one gives you some choice in the matter. And if we eliminate all the Congressionally imposed barriers to interstate insurance competition, and provide tax credits so people can purchase their own insurance, this will provide greater price transparency and greater pricing efficiencies in the marketplace that will enable this choice to be even more liberating and cost effective for people.

I don’t care how “smart” and Ivy league educated these people Obama proposes for his national health board are, they are still an arm of government that dictates to you and I that they can make better health care decisions for us than we can for ourselves. That’s what government run health care is all about.

I for one, am tired of being ruled by Rome. Taxed and Taxed to death. and handed out crumbs.
Yes we need government, but yes I am an adult and am very capable of making my own decisions.

Matt old friend : HEY I HAVE A GREAT IDEA. LETS PUT THE SAME TOP PEOPLE WHO WERE TOLD EIGHT TIMES IN WRITING ABOUT THE BERNIE MADOFF PROBLEM AND HIS RIPPING OFF PEOPLE IN CHARGE OF HEALTH CARE. OR MAYBE WE SHOULD TRY THE TOP POST OFFICE PEOPLE. If you don’t like the health insurance now, you can buy another. Once Barry/Kennedy Memorial HEALTH care takes over we will have no choice and they will run it all.

Congressional Reps Lowey and Hall, and Senators Schumer and Gillibrand, say they support a “public option” but in fact do not support HR 676 or S703, the most far reaching legislation we have to eliminate the private insurance business, and have a system of real coverage that puts medical decisions in the hands of the professionals, not the bean counters. Problem is that a universal health care system is so really OFF the table that the Congressional Budget Office didn’t even bother to give us the cost of such a system so our reps could truly evaluate it next to all the other options. And will our representatives TAKE THE INITIATIVE by demanding these numbers from the CBO? Do they REALLY represent us?

  6. Topgunner

As soon as I can get the same health care program that members of Congress get, I’ll support government run health care.

  7. Steve C.

What killed our health care ? HMOs
They care more about saving a dollar than a life.
The Unions have some of the best healthcare options. or at least did…
But today, prices have gone up, salaries have gone down taxes have gone up and what you get for your money is less.
I love going in for a procedure and getting a huge bill (sarcasm). On tv no one ever gets a bill. their life is saved and all is right with the world.
The only people that get that are illegal aliens with no insurance. What boggles my mind is that if i go in to the hospital I am drowned in paperwork. They walk through teh doors get ttreated and walk right out.
My tax dolars had at work for everyone but me.
With all my griping, at this tme, There’s still no country i rather be in.. until mars gets inhabited again. ;-)

    Guys,

Have any of you bozos actually been seriously ill? Physically, that is. Let’s leave your outraged, outsized egos for behavioral health specialists.

Have you ever been w/a loved one who refuses to go to the ER despite all MDs’ advice solely because of the cost?
Get off your high horses you naysaying idiots w/your pre-packaged, regurgitated arguments against healthcare reform unless you’ve been in a life-or-death situation & worried as much about how you’d pay for the medical expenses as you did about your medical condition.
Ask yourselves whether child mortality rates in this country would drop, if fewer patients would die of “complications” arising from their substandard, overpriced medical “care”.
How healthy are you, the above, & how much do you pay for your healthcare coverage? I pay close to $900.00 per month for great coverage, which is unfortunately so expensive I have to cherry pick which services I can use – if they’re covered @ all.

  9. Steve C.

    DeBS,

Bozo? I take major offense to that. And yes I have been seriously ill and so have my family memebers. My dad was ill and died. So what of it? All Insurance is a scam they dont ever want you to use their services. They want the free money. What you dont want is to have to stand in line and wait 3 years to have an operation.. what makes you think governmet run coverage would raise teh standard any better? if anything it may chase away teh great doctors and you will get the doctor that is sub-sub-standard.

I have never flamed anyone on this blog and for you to jump at us for voicing our opinions is beyond rude.

    Steve C.

I’m truly sorry for your loss. You must have done everything you could for your father.
It’s surprising then, that you don’t feel more outrage @ our scandalous healthcare system.
Corrrect me if I’m wrong guys, but I’m of a mind that President Obama has made his proposal abundantly clear. His proposal states that the public would be free to stay w/our current plan if we’re happy w/it. The single payer or public plan would be 1 additional option available to us.
Why do I think the government would be better @ running our healthcare system? Because they already do to some extent: Medicare. It’s a plan most MDs I’ve come across readily accept. They’re pretty much guaranteed payment if their staff follows Medicare guidelines.——Anybody out there got Medicare? How’s it working for you?
And what’s w/that argument I hear that the govt. isn’t capable of running a huge program efficiently? The military is govt. run.
My outrage above is really directed @ those of us who let others do our thinking for us. When it comes to an issue so vital to the vast majority of the public, why do we simply repeat what somebody has already put into our mouths?
If we’re sheep instead of thinking/feeling human beings, I’m not really sorry for calling people bozos. Except when it cuts 1 person to the heart.
Steve C, my prayers for your father’s soul.

  11. Steve C.

well the issue and what people are afraid of is, govt controlling healthcare. its bad enough HMOs now control just how much healcare you need. but Rome always feels it knows best for us , yet they dont know what’s best for themselves. except hold the amreican people hostage by not working. (senators not doing their job)

Churchill said it best, democracy isnt the best system but for now it works. if you notice we are seeing a shift in the democratic process. Because it really deosnt work all that great …

All i can say is write to the presidenty/congress and CC the newspapers. one day it will make a difference.
