Above And, Um, Beyond

July

Sheesh. Every so often, a situation arises wherein the cartoonist wonders how you draw a cartoon about something already so ludicrously cartoonish? Sarah Palin became famous for, among other things, shooting at stuff that didn’t stand a chance – from helicopters, so here you go…

I’m torn Matt, really torn. See, part of me would enjoy nothing more than to laugh my @ss off at this self-indulgent fool for the next 3 years, but the other part of me would prefer to never ever ever ever hear her voice again.

Or maybe I would just don’t want to be forced to believe that absolute idiocy is the new genius. So you can see my dilemma… gouge out eyes and ears with a spoon or don’t?

    • sigh *

Lalas: use a spork its more efficient.

I gave up on Palin a long time ago. she’s the epitamy of trailer park trash made good. by moving to a triple wide.

She may shoot from a helicopter but she got through politics on her knees while giving her orations.

  3. DebS

Ever think that her newest gig might be on Saturday Night Live? Maybe she liked the exposure so much she’s decided to join the cast.

She’s getting off to a great start w/this sketch.

  4. Joe

She has accomplished more in 45 years of her life, on her own without help from the good ole boy network, than all of you and your ancestors for the last 3 generations. You aren’t worthy to lick the soles of her shoes.

  5. MARINADOG

Mat have you had one cartoon making fun of the present Clown in the white house ?

  6. Matt Davies

    @Marinadog – Yes!

@Joe – I agree with you. Sarah Palin has accomplished an admirable amount without the the good ole boy network. Which makes it doubly frustrating that she is so gung ho to further the good ole boy’s wooden political agenda

  7. Lalas

Can any one of you Palin supporters translate her inane press conferences into English? Especially this last one with the wanting to help thing. Unintelligible rubbish.

    Joe,

Just who’s ancestors are you talking about? If it’s mine, I’d like to know where we’ve met before.

@ All of you guys above (any woman posting there?)
As a woman, I’m not flattered much by anyone’s
saying Sarah Palin is a great example of what women can accomplish.

Are any of you guys & gals above asking yourselves whether John McCain is part of any good ole boy network? Think his inviting her on his ticket represents a step forward for women or a cynical attempt to get the ‘women’s vote’? In fact, I think S.P. is a total fool for letting herself be exploited cause she’s got boobs & babies.

Seeing her w/the eyes of a woman, I don’t feel SP has offered much except an ability to whip up caribou burgers for Matt Lauer, look pretty in lipstick, & make uninformed statements not worthy of a political novice of either gender.

Again, in my opinion, the truly admirable women are female Supreme Court Justices, Senators, astronauts, police officers, ER MDs, nurses & so forth. Our heros, our sterling examples!

  10. BULLDOG

Debs do you feel the same way about Hillary or any women in
politics for that matter? Are they ALL fools or just S.P.?

  11. Lalas

Wow, I’m stunned that you missed the point entirely there bulldog :P

Debs point is that the ONLY reason Palin was chosen was because she was a woman. That does not apply to Hillary. Hillary has her own creds and some coattail action.

And Deb—SP is a glory hound that saw her opportunity and took it. She may be dim in other ways but her ability to ingratiate herself to the stage is her singular ability.

  12. BULLDOG

Sorry lalas i put Hillary into the same category as SP. Her
creds are just like Palin’s. Palin was a governor of a state
and Hillary was nothing more than a first lady for 8 years
and NYS do nothing Senator. Both Politicians. Same thing.
Look at what hapened with Hillary’s new position. Hillary
was only chosen because she is A WOMAN. She doesn’t have the creds for that job. What about ALL the other women in
politics. Were they voted in JUST because they are women?
I’m not defending Palin here but i do think she’s being
    singled out.

  13. DebS

    Lalas,
You got my point exactly! You’re so right about SP’s being a glory hound, & the major media just play along. She’s getting endless converage by the media for what shey’s not saying & how coy she is when not saying it. Isn’t her latest coy routine getting old to anybody but me? (SP: “I can’t tell you what I’ll be doing next.”)

    Bulldog,
Are you kidding about Hillary’s creds being the same as SP’s? How are these 2 women remotely similar? 2 start w/just check out their educational backgrounds. Then go on to their life experience: Hill’s a successful lawyer, former Senator of NY, etc.

We NYers voted Hill into office for getting ahead using her brains & guts. In the words of those times, she’s her own woman. She’s Sec. of State not because she’s just A WOMAN -your caps Bulldog. She’s SOS because Obama recognized: her extraordinary intellectual gifts; her command of so many subjects on the campaign trail against him; her loyal supporters on the same campaign trail; her ranking member status on influential Senate committees; etc.

Not all women were created equal; some are way better than others.

  14. Steve C.

when SP opens her mouth its as if baby Bush was re-icarnated as a woman. Do we really need that in the whitehouse again?
yeah yeah i know he’s alive thats the point.

  15. AJ

    Debs,

Look up “Travelgate” and tell me your opinion of Hillary Clinton is the same. This woman attempted to destroy the non-partisan White House travel secretary, Billy Dale, in 1993/1994 simply because she wanted her friends the Thomasons to take over running the office. So rather than simply firing him, she had trumped up charges brought against him so she wouldn’t be seen as the one who fired the long-time travel secretary. She is a piece of scum.

By the way, the charges agianst Billy Dale were dropped after three hours of grand jury testimony. But not before Billy had to spend most of his life savings defending himself against the charges.

  16. DebS

    AJ

Ever heard about SP’s getting her ex-brother-in-law (the state trooper)fired ‘cause she didn’t like him?

I hear now that SP might have retired cause she’s the subject of so many ethics probes. On the same subject, she owes $$$ for legal fees to defend herself in those cases. She’s distracted (the NY Times says) that she’s having trouble governing.

So, as far as the future of the GOP, anotheer one bites the dust.

  17. AJ

    Debs,

Yes I have and from what I have read from non-partisan sites (unlike your beloved left-wing NY Times) he was guilty of tazering a child.

Hey, if your hero Hillary had merely fired Billy Dale, there wouldn’t be a story. But she tried to RUIN him by getting him thrown in jail AND bankrupting him. A little different, sorry to say.
