I’m left wondering who’s side Uncle Rusty Limbaugh and his Repugnant Party whiners are really on, anymore. Weren’t the Obamas there to help Chicago the 2016 Summer Games? Isn’t Chicago part of the United States? Don’t these crybabies worship capitalism? Most Olympic events make their host cities decent money and create great commercial exposure…

  2. jp

    Yes!!!

You’ve hit another one out of the park, Matt!

    2. If the USA had been given the Olympics we would have heard
Kumbaya my savior, Kumbaya , everything is changing my savior Kumbaya
    3. NOTHING IS SAID IN THE JOURNAL RAG ON THE FACT THAT BARRY’S THUG FRIENDS OWN SLUM PROPERTY IN CHICAGO AND WAS GOING TO MAKE MILLIONS.
    4. Why do you not report that fact or ACORN that’s right it is Racist to go after Barry… Wait Herb aka Jason Blair is Black and went after Pres Bush Every day. THE WOULD BE RACIST RIGHT????
    5. WHEN NY WAS IN FOR THE SAME PRIZE WE AROUND NY HOPED THAT WE WOULD LOSE BECAUSE OF THE CORRUPTION AND MONEY TO BE LOST HERE AND THE PIA IT WOULD CAUSE.
    6. BARRY FAILED AND LIED TO US AGAIN.

given our ailing financial problems, i am glad we will not host 2016.

  5. Joe

It isn’t that losing the games in itself is such a big deal, it’s what it says about Obama’s judgment. That he would put the prestige of the presidency on the line for something as inconsequential as the Olympics. That he would do so without knowing in advance that it was in the bag – that he did not do the research into IOC politics first. And finally what it says about his view of Himself – that all he need do is show up, flash the smile, and His Utter Magnificence will carry the day. He is an arrogant, pathological, sociopathic narcissist. He is a rank amateur, not ready for the job, as millions of us said last November.
He yet again trivializes the office and the nation.
Too bad, his Chicago cronies won’t get to skim millions in graft from these games.

  6. Joe

Yeah, Pierce, Republicans (and most Chicagoans) wanted him to lose the Olympics.
You Democrats want us to lose a war.

  7. marinadog

joe it the same thing no ????

  8. BULLDOG

Where were we getting the money for the olympics? the country’s broke and this guys a joke.

  9. Lord Baltimore

    Joe –
Completely agree with you regarding the lack of understanding Obama’s people showed sending him into the Olympic fray to begin with. Unless it was a shoe-in or a tight race, he never should have jumped in. The fact that Chicago was the first site eliminated suggests it never stood a chance, and now Obama will pay for it in PR.
But the fact that some Republicans are celebrating the defeat is pathetic and embarrassing.
And “rank amateur” (not to mention pathological, sociopathic, etc)? Can I assume you voted for W not long ago? You want a rank amateur he’s your posterboy, as evidenced by the heap of crap he left behind for his successor to dig out from. I don’t agree with Obama’s policies wholesale, but he entered office with massive inherited problems, as opposed to W.
And most Democrats don’t want us to lose a war – they wish we were never in one to begin with. But we are, thanks to moves made by W. Now everyone who comes after has to figure out ways to repair the damage. Unfortunately much of that damage likely is irreparable.

  10. D-Bag Detector

Great cartoon, by the way. Love the impossible amount of air being grabbed by the GOP.

  11. Minette

Funny how everyone complaining that the “prestige of the presidency” was compromised fails to note that the head of state for every other country in contention was in Copenhagen. I suppose you have the same complaints about the king of Spain?

  12. Lord Baltimore

    Point well taken, Minette.
But Obama is the first sitting US president to make a personal plea for the Games, so it was an unprecedented move from a US perspective (which as we all know is the only perspective that matters ;) ). I had no problem with him going – I just figured his people would have been a bit more in touch with whether landing the games was a possibility. Looks like Chicago never stood a chance.

  13. AJ

    Lord Baltimore,

I would say that the Jamie Gorelick-led wall that was put up between the CIA and the FBI during the Clinton years left good ‘ol GWB with a little bit more of a mess than you give him credit for having inherited, no?

This same person who put up this intelligence wall between those two agencies also then went on to profit handsomely from her time serving on the board of the government-created Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac disaster that helped cause the financial mess we’re in now. She made millions in bonuses while they kept pumping the prime for banks to continue making more and more of these sub-prime loans. Why isn’t she in prison right now? Because she’s not the head of a public company and therefore completely unaccountable to anybody.

Obama is not the first President to have “inherited” problems from prior administrations. He is, however the first President to cry about it for as long as he has.

  14. Lord Baltimore

Actually AJ I rarely hear him cry about it – his defenders do, because people like yourself conveniently seem to forget that half of the big-government bailout you despise came during Bush’s administration, as did the crumbling of Wall Street and the economy. The wars that we’re now so entrenched in, and that are costing billions upon billions to keep up, are largely a result of W’s faulty “leadership”. He created a mess, somehow earned reelection, cashed in his “political capital” (we all remember his smug post-election speeches well) to push more of his agenda and made the mess exponentially larger. Obama hasn’t even been in office 9 months now – it’ll take decades before the effects of W’s damage have faded. And much of what Obama has pushed in terms of policy is in reaction to the mess he inherited. Bailouts, stimulus packages – all a last-ditch effort to curtail the nose dive we were in.

  15. BULLDOG

Let’s not forget Lord Baltimore that the Dems were in power
when the economy crashed. there’s enough blame on both sides
    to go around.Politicians suck!!!!

  16. jp

Yeah, Lord Baltimore, don’t forget that (1) the 9/11 attacks happened on Clinton’s watch (his 9th year in office), and (2) the global financial meltdown happened on Obana’s watch (his zeroth year in office).

And the TARP program was LBJ’s idea. And, and, and…

    -jp

  17. BULLDOG

of course jp there’s never been a good Republican and there’s never been a bad Democrat. Can i join you in your
    fantasy world?

  18. AJ

    JP,

If you’re going to blame Bush for stuff that’s happened during Obama’s first nine months in office then you have to blame Clinton for the terrorist attacks using the same reasoning.

LB, you obviously haven’t been listening to any of Obama’s speeches this past year nor do you seem to understand what really caused the economy to crumble as it has. Government intervention in the mortgage market promulgated mostly by Democratic influence and ideas. Was the bailout by Bush a great idea? Probaby not. But we do know Obama was a HUGE supporter and beneficiary of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac AND was a community agitator back in the day pushing banks to make risky loans to questionable credits so they could make housing more ‘affordable”. How did that turn out for the country?

  19. Lord Baltimore

    BULLDOG –
    “Politicians suck !!!!”
Unfortunately, I agree with you on the most part here. I have almost completely lost faith in all politicians at this point.
And Obama winning the Nobel Peace Prize 9 months into his first term? WTF?

  20. BULLDOG

Amen to that LB. What has he done? nothing!! We still have
two wars going on that he has the power to stop and yet he has not. Maybe next year they’ll award Sadam Hussein the
prize and present it to his widow.

  21. TJ

I didnt see the Right taking any air out of this story… more stupid spin…grab your panties you left wing losers

  22. Matt Davies

TJ – Video from “Americans for Prosperity” meeting. http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid1460906593?bctid=43158474001

Almost every right-wing commentator was gleeful at Obama’s “failure.” A rudimentary Google search will suffice.

  23. BULLDOG

No different than the left wanting all Republicans to fail
    Matt. Great country eh?
