Honestly

I confess this cartoon is a tad formulaic in its presentation, but I couldn’t for the life of me think of a better way to present my point. I’m sure I could have metaphored up or done something with labeled animals or something, but not on a Monday at 4:45PM.

The “solutions” being bandied about currently in Congress will do nothing to solve the problem in health care.

    Substitute “government bureaucracy”
for “Insurance Co.” in your cartoon and you pretty much have the Democratic “solution” pegged. Which is why more than half of Americans oppose the current plans circulating through Congress right now.

Once we see some free market reforms introduced by these clowns in Congress (interstate competiton, equalization of tax treatment for the self-employed who buy health insurance vs. those who are corporate employees, tort reform and a reduction in government mandates) then we will be talking true health care reform. As currently constituted, it’s merely a huge power grab by those who feel government should control as much of the individual as they can.

Your cartoon worked fine for me, MD. As for the comment above, would you like to try MY medical plan? I call it the “Take Two Low Dose Aspirin and Pray Like Hell” plan. I wonder how smug you’d be with capitalism bull manure if you had NO medical coverage whatsover, hmmm? I know, I know… “First, Just Don’t Get Sick. And second, if I do get sick, DIE QUICKLY.” I suggest you think about your neighbor before you mouth off any further… What if he has drug resistant TB and no health care? Think you’re magically immune because you (falsely) worship Adam Smith?

Instead of Carrying the water for Barry on What ever plan he will come up with ( and how can you support something that has not been written) Why not put one up on the growing corruption of

ACORN ACORN OR IS IT THE RACIST PART OF NOT BEING ABLE TO GO AFTER A BARRY PLAN OR FRIENDS WHO EFFECT THE ELECTION AFTER ALL YOUR BLACK BOSS HAD NO PROBLEM GOING AFTER A WHITE PRESIDENT… SO ISN’T THAT RACIST?????

Matt do you know the Health Care System that has the largest percentage of turn down for health care???

Right that would be MEDICARE AND MEDICARE>>>>>>>>

I Know .the system would not pay for my father to get home kiddney treatment of $ 300 a week but would pay

$ 600 a week to take him to a hospital additional money for and aid to go with him and the same treatment at the hospital for $ 1,000.

Every time you use caps it hurts my ears and causes me to tune you out, MD. Well, that and the incessant ranting.

Marinadog, yelling about things that have virtually nothing to do with the actual topic being discussed won’t help whatever feeble argument you’re trying to make. Maybe it’s time to dial away from the Faux News and Uncle Rusty Limbaugh? And your spelling and grammar hardly helps, either.

Marinadog—So, Medicare has a bunch of bureaucratic stupidities built into the system. Surprise, surprise, but most non-govt health insurance plans in this country have just as many bureaucratic stupidities. E.g., the guy who has a kidney transplant paid for, but then found out that his anti-rejection medication was not covered, and he couldn’t afford to pay for it out-of-pocket (recently reported in the press).

But, let Congress even mention the thought of squeezing some savings out of Medicare (e.g., by substituting a $300 in-home treatment for a $1600 hospital treatment), and all of the members of the Party-of-NO start screaming bloody murder.

    John,

I really don’t think I came across as smug. In fact, all I was saying was the current reform proposals will not make anybody better off. If you are indeed suffering under your current plan, then some of the ideas that I mentioned are things that I feel could bring about a true lowering of costs and increased access for you and others in your predicament. I wasn’t saying “no” to fixing the problems we have, I was saying “no” to the bigger government proposals being put forth by the Democrats in Congress, since I believe that those will not improve your plight one bit. I have health concerns as well for me and my loved ones as much as you do, but the current system is heavily influenced by government as it is, and I genuinely believe a lot of the probelms facing the health care system today were brought about via excessive government interference (with cooperation from the large insurance companies-I’m not exonerating them). I would prefer a solution that moves us away from the big government-big corporation setup we have now and toward a flatter, more diverse one that removes some of the payment barriers between patients and doctors. Replacing insurance company bereaucrats with government bureaucrats is not the answer, in my opinion. Thanks.

If Obama really wanted health reform he would allow the sale of insurance across state lines. America doesn’t need another broken system. Goverment knows nothing about running health care or medicare would not be in the shape it is in :)
