The Road

I’m kind of thinking this road is more Cormac McCarthy than Jack Kerouac. While I am posting a cartoon on our war strategy in Afghanistan that I did last night, I can’t help but see the irony in the surprise awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize to President Obama this morning. I must confess I was puzzled. He may one day deserve such an honor, if he, y’know, secures some peace somewhere.
I’ll post my cartoon on that subject just as soon as I can get it down on paper…

American Generals though out our history have not always agreed with how The President (at times had to) runs a war. In the Civil War General McClain (I belive) wanted more troops then he had before he would start a new battles, and when he got the troops he stated he needed more. Lincoln Finally replaced him.
Here we are faced with lesions we should have learned in Viet Nam.
Fight to win, do what it takes to win, get the troops and equipment that we need there,
And the Get the Heck out. If we will not do that THEN WE MUST BRING ALL THE BOYS AND GIRLS HOME AND CARPET BOMB THE BORDER BETWEEN AFGHANISTAN AND PAKISTAN.

But, before we “fight to win” we need to define who we’re fighting, why, and what “win” means. I don’t think any of these questions have been addressed clearly regarding Afganistan, either by Obama, or by Bush before him.
