Reverse Thrust

I have noticed that the comments section is quieted by a state cartoon. So of course, I felt compelled to draw another.
This is a systemic and vexing problem in NY State Government, and the absolute root of Albany’s inability to change its self-serving profligacy. Even if we “threw all the bums out,” the political architecture, the lobbyists and the influence peddling would remain, and therefore so would the problem.

Poor state politics, no love from the angry masses!

I for one appreciate your unflattering (yet nonetheless truthful) depiction.

I shake my head at the millionaires in politics , all telling us we have to pay more taxes while they dont pay and get a raise.

Did you hear about the 50 demorats from congress that went down to Florida this weekend and meet with?
    1. Big Business, Tobacco, Big oil, drug companies
    2. Lobbyist

$ 30,000 was the fee for them to get into talk to the very people who tell the rest of us that it is evil big business and lobbyist and money which corrupt the system (or is it the system which gives the corrupt members of congress play money?)

If it’s not too much trouble, boatcat, could you re-write your post in a way that simulates literacy?

Well,.... just so I can’t be accused of having been “quieted”.....

It’s a simple function of just how anyone gets elected to state office. To be put on a primary ballot one must hob-nob with the self serving shark-pack controlling the NYS Democratic party offices. ( I assume nobody is going to come out as a Republican). As we saw with the now-defeated A Spano buying the endorsement of the Conservative party, by having the city of Yonkers give the party secretary a no-show job, the inbreeding is so convoluted, so entrenched, that the “gang of six” controls all. The odd stranger who fights this system has to try over & over, before gaining name recognition ( such as R Astorino). Astorino is a media expert. How many runs at office did it take him? Despite his win he STILL has to deal with Ryan.

In state or local politics the ONLY issue is tax reduction. There ARE no other issues. Because so many voters work in NYC, and only have a marginal view of their “home towns”....( after 6PM, and on Saturday mornings), and all the local work is done by illegal central American guys who don’t want to vote, be taxed, or even noticed, there’s no possible alternative to the status quo.

Living in the real world. Learn to like it.

    Artisan,

and what makes Republicans any different. they are the bigger millionaires and they hobble the nob just like democrats. its politicians in general.
they love to spend as long as it isnt their dollar.

  7. Artisan33

We need a new political party.

  8. Steve C.

There are plenty of political parties. However the BIG 2 discredit the others. and some of them rightly so. Independent makes the most sense however, they are millionaires as well.

to my point look what the local republicans spend:

    Matt,

Way to go for using a boat in your cartoon. If I got you right, when it comes to supposed ethics reform in Albany, “This ship has already sailed”.
    Talk about the Circle Line.
